Leviticus 19:14–18
14 Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the Lord. 15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour. 16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the Lord. 17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. 18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.
Zechariah 7:8–10
8 And the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah, saying,
9 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, And shew mercy
and compassions every man to his brother:
10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor;
And let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.
Deuteronomy 1:16–18
16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him. 17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it. 18 And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
John 7:24
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Jeremiah 22:16
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: Was not this to know me? saith the Lord.
Deuteronomy 17:17
17 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away:
neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
Ecclesiastes 10:17
17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength,
and not for drunkenness!
Proverbs 31:1-9
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? And what, the son of my vows?
3 Give not thy strength unto women, Nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; Nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, And pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, And wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb In the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.
Psalm 104:14–15
14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, And herb for the service of man:
That he may bring forth food out of the earth;
15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, And oil to make his face to shine,
And bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
Isaiah 1:17
17 Learn to do well; Seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, Judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Proverbs 21:13
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, He also shall cry himself, but shall not be
heard.
Hosea 4:10–11
10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: They shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase:
Because they have left off to take heed to the Lord.
11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
1 Peter 3:17–4:2
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
4 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
Psalm 45:6–7
6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: The sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee
With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Hebrews 1:7–10
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. 8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Psalm 104:4–5
4 Who maketh his angels spirits; is ministers a flaming fire:
5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, That it should not be removed for ever.
Revelation 11:15
15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become
the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Hebrews 4:11–5:10
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
5 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Matthew 22:36–40
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
